St. Andrew's Parks and Playground and the
City of Charleston Recreation Department
are united to improve and expand
West Ashley Youth Sports!

Now if you live in the PSD or the City of Charleston in West Ashley you pay the same fee! You can register at any of the following locations: St. Andrew's administration building at 1095 Playground Rd., Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am-7:00 PM and Friday 8:30 am-5:30 PM. Checks, cash or credit cards are accepted. You may also register at St. Andrew's Family Fitness Plus, 1642 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. Monday through Thursday 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. or Mary Utsey Playground (Checks Only) at 1350 Orange Grove Rd.

A birth certificate and proof of insurance is required for youth sports. Insurance is available for purchase. All programs and teams use certified, professional, coaches.

Late Registration Fees: $20 additional fee per participant

PSD & City Resident Fees : $30 for all sports
Non-Resident Fees: $55 for all sports

Track and Field: ages 8-13 (age as of 4/30/08)
Soccer (co-ed): ages *4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12
Boys Soccer: ages 13-16
Girls Soccer: ages 13-16
( *must be 4 years old by 3/1/08. Cutoff for other Soccer age groups is 5/31/08)

T-Ball (co-ed): ages 4, 5-6 (age as of 4/30/08)
Coach Pitch Baseball: ages 7-8 (age as of 4/30/08)
Coach Pitch Softball: ages 7-8 (age as of 12/31/07)

Baseball: ages 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 15-18 (age as of 4/30/08)
Ripken and Recreational Baseball available for ages 9-10 and 11-12:
-9-10 Ripken: Expect practice/games 2-4 times week; all-stars
-9-10 Recreational: Expect practice/games 1-2 times week; increased minimum playing requirements, post-season tourney, no all-stars
-11-12 Ripken: Expect practice/games 4-6 times week; all-stars. 11-12 Ripken is Travel Baseball without the travel!
-11-12 Recreational: Expect practice/games 1-2 times week; increased minimum playing requirements, post-season tourney, no all-stars

Babe Ruth and Recreational Baseball available for ages 13-15:
-13-15 Babe Ruth: Expect practice/games 4-6 times per week, all-stars
-13-15 Recreational: Expect practice/games 1-2 times week; increased minimum playing requirements, post-season tourney, no all-stars.
-15-18 Babe Ruth: Expect practice/games 2-4 times week; all-stars

Softball: ages 9-10, 11-12, 13-15 (age as of 12/31/07)
9-10 Ripken Softball: Expect practice/games 2-3 times week, all-stars

St. Andrew's Wins
Excellence in Youth Sports Award
October 5, 2007--St. Andrew's Parks and Playground was announced as the winner of the 2007 Excellence in Youth Sports Award from the National Alliance for Youth Sports

With the 2007 award, St. Andrew's becomes the first two-time recipient of the National Alliance for Youth Sports Excellence in Youth Sports Award, presented in conjunction with Athletic Business magazine. St. Andrew's also earned the honor in 2004.

The National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) is the nation's leading advocate for providing safe sports for children since 1981. NAYS has more than 1.8 million members in 3300 chapters.

Chosen from more than 100 applicants from the U.S. and other countries, St. Andrew's was honored for its commitment to providing fun, safe and positive athletic programs to area youth. The award includes NAYS scholarship funds to be used at the discretion of St. Andrew's, as well as $500 in gift certificates for athletic equipment from BSN Sports, $500 worth of team photo services from TSS Photography and recognition in Athletic Business magazine and SportingKid Magazine, the official publication of the National Alliance for Youth Sports.

St. Andrew's will receive the award on Nov. 28 at the NAYS International Congress in Orlando, Fla. Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly will present the award to St. Andrew's on behalf of NAYS during his keynote address.

The 2007 NAYS Excellence in Youth Sports Award continues the national recognition for St. Andrew's Parks and Playground. In addition to the 2007 and 2004 NAYS awards, St. Andrew's the 2005 Sports Illustrated GoodSports Award, presented in conjunction with Dodge, for being the top youth sports program in the Southeastern United States.

St. Andrew's Parks and Playground is proud to participate in the Parents Association for Youth Sports (PAYS) program.
