2008 Summer Camps


Registration
Registration is accepted at 1095 Playground Road, Monday through Thursday from 8:00am - 7:00pm, Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm, and at St. Andrew's Family Fitness Plus! during its regular business hours.

PSD Residents receive a 15% discount on all camps.

Complete payment is required at the time of registration. Full refunds will be given up to one week prior to the start of the camp.

Extended Day for early drop off and late pick up is offered for $20.00 per week.

SYLVAN LEARNING CENTER CAMPS!
Send your Brain to Camp this summer!
Sylvan's Summer Camps are a fun approach to learning while school is on break. Each camp is instructed by caring, certified teachers. Small groups make learning fun and interesting. Join us for the chance to exercise your brain!

Campers must be dropped off at Sylvan Learning Center at 1890 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. at 9am daily and picked up promptly at 12pm. If they are registered for our Afternoon Camp, we will transport them from Sylvan Learning Center to our camp at noon. Campers will then be picked up by parents at our gymnasium on Playground Rd. at 5pm.
All day campers must bring a lunch and a drink daily.

Acting Camp
Session June 9-June 13
9 am - 12 pm, Ages 9-15
$118 per week

“All the world is a stage and the people merely actors.” Shakespeare was correct when he stated the above statement. My goals are to help the students to understand acting as well as how to perform in front of people. Camp will work with both commercials and monologs. Campers will learn slating as well as looking at scripts and how to approach an audition. On the last day of camp, we will be acting out a small scene or perform small individual monologs.

Modeling Camp
Session July 14-18
9 am - 12 pm, Ages 9-15
$118 per week

Ever wonder about the exciting world of modeling? In this camp, each camper will receive a free makeup kit and be introduced to the proper application of makeup. They will be shown how to properly perform walks and turns on the runway as well as how to pose for pictures. Proper conduct and how to dress for interviews and auditions will also be addressed. Campers will perform a mini fashion show for parents and friends on Friday.

 

Camp Encore
Weekly Sessions, June 2 - Aug 15
9 am - 5 pm, Ages 6-11
$128 per week

Campers will get to make new friends and have fun while enjoying all the fun activities that surround each themed week and special field trips. Themes include H20 Extravaganza, Wild Wild West and Crazy about Animals. The daily schedule includes a mix of sports, arts and crafts, games, social interaction, field trips, swimming
and much more.
(June 30-July 3 will be prorated)


Counselor In Training

Two-Week Sessions:
June 16-27, July 7-18, July 28-August 8
9 am - 5 pm, Ages 13-15
$200 per two week session:

This program is designed to build leadership skills in the field of recreation. Under the guidance of our Program Director and camp counselors, CIT's learn firsthand what it takes to be a summer camp counselor. CIT's attend training on group management, conflict resolution and basic First Aid and CPR skills.
CIT candidates are chosen based on interviews, recommendations and their applications. Campers must be registered at least one week prior to the desired session start date.



Magic Camp
June 16-20
10 am - 12 pm, Ages 7-12
$82 per week
plus $12 supply fee

Learn some magic tricks and make new friends this summer. Camp presented by local magician Van Doren.
New tricks added each year for
returning young magicians.

Golf Camp
Weekly Sessions: June 2-August 15
9 am - 12 pm, Ages 7-14
$153 per week

Shadowmoss Plantation Golf Club pros will teach the fundamentals of golf from etiquette to the swing.
Bring your own clubs or some will be provided.
Camp runs Monday - Friday! Transportation to our Afternoon Camp is available.

Fishing Camp
Weekely Sessions: June 9 - August 8
9 am - 5 pm, Ages 8-12
$165 per week

Bring your fishing pole for a "reel" good time. Who knows? We might even bring home dinner. Campers will learn the basics of fishing and crabbing while traveling all over the Charleston area learning how to fish in lakes, brackish water and even in the ocean! The group will leave every morning by 9:30 am so promptness is important. We can now take up to 12 participants per week. Sign up early because this
camp fills up quickly!

Half Video Games &
Half Exercise Camp

Weekly Sessions: June 9-13; June 23-August 8
9am - 5 pm, Ages 8-12
$165 per week

Back by popular demand and with new equipment! We bought the new
Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii with tons of games to play with each! We created a camp that both you and your child will love?

We're bringing it back again! This camp mixes the social interaction and fun of playing video games with plenty of exercise and outdoor activity.
(June 30-July 3 will be prorated)


Kinder Kamp
Weekly Sessions: June 2-August 8
9 am - 5 pm, Ages 4-5
$165 per week

This isn't just daycare! It's a camp for the mind and body of a 4-5 year old. Our highly trained and experienced counselors are also trained in
CPR and First Aid. We keep a 1 to 6 ratio so the little ones get all of the help that they need.

Camp activities are designed to enhance motor and social skills all while having fun which include water play, art time, gymnastics, sports introduction, circle/story time and music.
(Campers must be toilet trained)

Tennis Camp
Weekly Sessions: June 2 - August 15
9 am - 12 pm, Ages 6-14
$80 per week

Give your child the ultimate summer sport camp experience! St. Andrew's tennis camp is viewed as one of the premier tennis camps for kids in the Charleston area. Our camp is taught by professional tennis players and a knowledgeable staff. St. Andrew's offers the best lessons in a fun environment!

Afternoon Camp
Weekly Sessions: June 2 - August 15
12pm - 5 pm, Ages 6-14
$80 per week

This camp is a fun-filled afternoon of field trips, swimming, movies and more. It also makes a terrific all-day option when paired with our Tennis, Golf or Magic camps. All-day campers must bring a swimsuit, towel and lunch everyday.

Challenge Camp
Sessions: June 16-20; July 14-18 and Aug 4-8
9 am - 5 pm, Ages 8-12
$165 per week

One of St. Andrew's newest camp additions! Challenge your mind and body at the camp everyone will be talking about! We mixed the hit shows Survivor, the Amazing Race and the Apprentice into a fun exciting week of camp. Challenges will include mental and physical strength as well as endurance. Can your team beat the other team in all challenges given? Come find out at Challenge Camp!



Cheerleading Camp
Sessions: June 23-27; July 7-11; July 21-25
9 am to 12 pm;
Ages 5-18
$105 per week

Join us at Cheerleading Camp if you want to learn new chants, cheers, stunts, jumps and a pom pom dance. Group will be divided up by age groups and will learn new and exciting cheer moves with the same coaches used during winter and spring sports. This is a Monday - Thursday camp.
No camp on Fridays!

 

Hobby Camp
Sessions: June 23-27, July 14-18, July 28-Aug 1
Ages: 10-14
Time: 9am-5pm
$175 per week

Hobby Camp will provide both entertaining and educational activities that will develop into lifelong hobbies. Some activities include: remote control cars, building rockets and models, games, science projects and much more. Swimming and field trips are also included in this all day camp.

Ponderosa Camp
Weekly Sessions June 9-Aguust 8
Ages: 6-12
Time: 9am-5pm
$128 per week

Designed after our very popular Camp Encore, we're opening up our center at the Ponderosa Community Building for Ponderosa Camp. This camp will enjoy weekly themed activities, field trips, games, sports, arts and crafts, swimming and much more.

Child vs. Wild
Sessions: June 23-27, Aug. 4-8
Ages: 10-14
Time: 9am-5pm
$170per week

The camping camp that teaches your child the ways of the outdoors! Campers will learn basic survival skills along with the fun of conquering the wild. On Thursday night the campers will spend the night in tents at the St. Andrew's complex (a great parents night out option!).

Rhythm Camp
Session: July 7-11
Ages: 8-14
Time: 9am-5pm
$190 per week

This isn't your normal music camp! This is rhythm with a twist--imagine music camp, dance camp, iPod camp and rock band camp all rolled into one!

BFF Camp
Sessions: June 16-20; July 28-Aug 1
Ages: 10-14
Time: 9am-5pm
$140 per week

Best Friends Forever! The camp name says it all. This camp focuses on team-building and communication skills. Best friends will do activities together in cmap they'll remember for a lifetime!

Cooking Camp
Session: July 21-25
Ages: 10-14
Time: 9am-5pm
$250 per week

Kids love to create in the kitchen! Our Cooking Camp inspires campers to try something new--even spinach and bell peppers!

Martial Arts Camp
Session: Aug 11-Aug 15
Ages: 8-12
Time: 9am-5pm
$190 per week

The wave of the future: A camp that works on the mind, body and spirit. your child will learn the basics of several martial arts styles.

Sylvan Learning Center, founded over 25 years ago, is the world's leading provider of supplemental education. Sylvan Learning Center, located in the West Ashley area of Charleston (Outback Plaza on Sam Rittenberg Blvd) has been in continuous operation by the original owner since 1985. We are excited about partnering with St. Andrew's Parks and Playground so that your child will have the opportunity to play and learn this summer. Sylvan operates year round in order to facilitate the learning process for children of all ages.

Scholarships are now available for St. Andrew’s summer camps. Awards are based on financial need and applicants must complete an
