St. Andrew's
won the Dixie Boys World Series in Muscle Shoals, Alabama
by defeating Newton County, Ga., 6-0 and 6-5, in two
championship-round games.

The Excellence in Youth Sports Awards
honor programs that are doing superior jobs of conducting
diverse activities with a focus on providing safe and
positive experiences for all participants -- including
children, parents and coaches. This award was developed
by the National Alliance for Youth Sports and Athletic
Business magazine. St. Andrew's Parks & Playground
earned the award in 2004, which was presented by Cal
Ripken, Jr.

The St. Andrew's
Parish Parks and Playground Commission is well aware
of the violence disrupting youth sports programs around
the country and it has no intention of allowing that
to occur at its facility. That's what led to it becoming
a Time Out! for better sports for kids community partner.
